Jezebel, by way of Whitney Pastorek, reminds us that today kicks off “Women Self-Empowerment Week”. That is great mainly because everyday should be about self-empowerment. Last night I attended a benefit clothing swap  and screening of the Showtime documentary “Very Young Girls” which is about young girls (average age thirteen) who get lured into prostitution.  The event was a benefit for a very good cause, GEMS.  GEMS is a nonprofit based here in New York City that helps  girls who have been commercially sexually exploited.  To empower yourself, I highly suggest donating.
